Nathaniel Persily is the James B. McClatchy Professor of Law at Stanford Law School and co-director of the Stanford Law AI Initiative, with further appointments in Political Science, Communication and the Freeman Spogli Institute of International Studies.
His work runs across two fields that have been converging for a decade: the law of democracy, covering voting rights, political parties, campaign finance, redistricting and election administration, and the governance of technology. The current work examines what social media and artificial intelligence are doing to political communication, campaigns and elections.
He also co-chairs the Presidential Task Force on Artificial Intelligence of the American Political Science Association.
